 LSRT welcomes all of its student members.  The LSRT also encourages all students enrolled in approved Radiological Science programs throughout Louisiana to become student members.  The LSRT offers many activities for its student members.  The LSRT offerings exclusively for students include the following  but are not limited to the following:

Directory for Student Advisory Council

 Student Quiz Bowl

Each year at the LSRT Annual Meeting a Student Quiz Bowl competition is held.  The Student Quiz Bowl is a team competition, with eligible teams from all accredited Radiography programs in Louisiana.  The purpose of the Student Quiz Bowl is to encourage student participation in the Annual Meeting.  Another purpose of the Student Quiz Bowl is to provide healthy competition among student technologists.  The Student Quiz Bowl also recognizes those students who demonstrate expertise in Radiologic Technology theory.  See Quiz Bowl rules, regulations and application within  the competitions section CLICK HERE.

Student T-Shirt Contest

Programs participating in the Annual Quiz Bowl may also participate in a T-Shirt Contest.  Each team participating in the Annual Quiz Bowl will select 2 members from their program or the quiz bowl team to present the School’s T-shirt to a panel of judges.  The T-Shirt Contest shall be held immediately preceding the quiz bowl.

 Student Bee

Each year the LSRT sponsors a Student Bee a the Mid-Winter Seminar.  The Student Bee is an individual competition, with eligible students at both the Senior and Junior level.  Students from all accredited Radiography program in Louisiana are eligible to compete.  Outstanding Student of the Year Award

Each year the LSRT and Mallinckrodt recognize those Students who have gone above and beyond their daily Student objectives. The student is recognized for their achievements and contributions to LSRT and the Profession.  These individuals deserve to be recognized and any LSRT member has the power to nominate this chosen person.  All nominees must be LSRT Members.  All nominations will be reviewed and recipients will be selected by the LSRT Board of Directors.  Any members wishing to make a nomination should submit a curriculum vitae for each nominee and a brief statement of their qualifications.  Please submit all nominations to the Chairman of the Board.  See the Outstanding Student Technologist of the Year Award within the Student Award section for selection criteria.

Essay and Exhibit Competition

Each year in conjunction with the LSRT Annual Meeting, the organization sponsors student competitions.  The competitions are in the area of Scientific Essays and Scientific Exhibits.  All students enrolled in accredited radiography programs from across the state of Louisiana are eligible for the competition.  For specific details and guidelines see the Competitive Essay and Scientific Exhibits sections CLICK HERE.

Student Advisory Council

The purpose of this organization is to encourage students in professional development through participation in LSRT.  The student advisory council operates under the auspices of the Louisiana Society of Radiologic technologists (LSRT).  The members are members of LSRT, abiding by the By-Laws of its’ parent organization, the LSRT.  Purpose of student advisory council is to:

The members of the council shall be two (2) representatives from each institution offering radiologic sciences.  The Student Advisory Council shall hold one business meeting yearly.  This meeting will be held in conjunction with the LSRT Mid Winter Seminar.  There are two (2) elected officers, that of the chairperson and vice chairperson.  These officers are elected by a polarity vote of the council members attending the Mid Winter Seminar meeting.
